A GONG ENHANCED - SOUND JOURNEY

Experience a unique intimate voyage through the mystic vibrations of harmonic Gongs sounds, profound poetic expression, guided meditation, and the balancing grounding sonorities of the Native American flute.

Gong Bath is a surprising and unique sound experience that washes through your whole body with dissonance and harmonic sounds creating spontaneous meditative effects that are often described as deeply relaxing, balancing and cleansing.  The sequencing and combination of these sounds can un-stick stuck places we may not be aware of, and creates a relaxing atmosphere conducive to a stillness within.

About the Fire Ceremony

“We light a fire for peace and for harmony, as we enter the new world that has always existed. We are re-born seeds of peace.  We are the manifesters. We are the presence of God (LIFE itself).  We are the reverence.  We are the blessed ones.  We are the sacred.  We are the holy ones. We are harmony.  We are being and vibration. We are everything.  This is where we can know that we belong, all of us together, for we are the people.” Joseph Rael – Beautiful Painted Arrow

The fire ceremony comes from the visionary work of Joseph Rael. On the 7th of every month Birdsong Sound Chamber joins with other Sound/Peace Chambers around the globe in lighting a fire for Oceanus and the purification of the waters of the Earth. A fire is ceremonially prepared and then lit by a fire tender at 7pm. Those in attendance settle into silent observation to watch the flames, hold intentions and offer silent prayers for peace, harmony and purification of the waters of the earth.  The Oceans …. Literal Oceans, the Ocean of Consciousness and the Oceans of two-leggeds, wingeds, four-leggeds, swimmers, tree nations, rock nations, creepy crawlers….ALL THE PEOPLE!

A bowl or pitcher of water is placed in the West for purification during the ceremony.  30 minutes before the fire is lit, the community chants The Seeds of Peace and the directional vowel sounds by Beautiful Painted Arrow, and anything that we are inspired to chant for the purification of the Oceans/Waters.  After experiencing in silence, what we experience during the Burning, we hold council and share what arose in our experience and drink a sip of the water.  The remaining water is then released by one of the participants in the ceremony into a living body of water, thus spreading the vibrations of purity and intention through the Waters around the Grandmother Earth.  Reflect on the significance of ALL the Sound/Peace Chamber Communities honoring the Waters and Earth in this sacred ceremony!!! Profound!

Directions to the Thundersong Kiva, behind the builder, Jeffrey Combelic's House:

570 Pine st. Gold Hill, Boulder, CO 80302, 303-939-0271:

In Boulder, take Canyon Blvd west, turn right (north), on 9th St. Go up the hill and turn left on Mapleton Ave (west) which becomes Sunshine Canyon. Go up 10 miles (stay left 5+miles up where the road becomes dirt). Entering Gold Hill you are on Main street. Continue up past the store (on your left about 1 block up). Turn right at the next street, then right again. Jeffrey's house is 2 houses down on the left with solar collectors and a big bay window with a deck over it. The Kiva is in the backyard. There is very little parking here so best is to offload things then go down and around to park on Main Street.

Gong Bath is a surprising and unique sound experience that washes through your whole body with harmonic sounds creating spontaneous meditative effects that are often described as deeply relaxing, balancing and cleansing. The sequencing and combinations of these sounds creates a relaxing atmosphere conducive to a stillness within.

Cover charge is $5.

Please bring your own original haiku to share on 3/8/14. Each haiku should be a very short three-line poem. It doesn’t need to have exactly seventeen syllables like classical Japanese haiku. Each poet can read up to ten of his or her haiku, and Lisamarie McGrath will improvise musical interludes with her classical silver flute and Native American flutes.

If you have any questions, please contact Bob Davis at rhambling@verizon.net. As usual, after the featured haiku readings, we will follow with an open mic for short poems and prose of any format.

NOTE: The Jackson Inn holds a tavern license, and while it serves food, it is restricted to the limitations of a tavern for serving alcohol. That means Second Saturday attendees MUST BE 21 or older to attend readings at the Jackson Inn.

The Jackson Inn is located at the corner of North DuPont Road and Lancaster Avenue, across the street from the Lancaster Avenue entrance to the Silverbrook Cemetery and facing the large sculpture on the corner of North DuPont Road that fronts the Cab Calloway School for the Performing Arts (the old Wilmington High School). There will be the usual $5 cover, which gifts the featured readers. Free parking is available in the parking lot that surrounds the Inn. The food is tasty and reasonably priced!
