Grown in Colorado, Lisamarie began her flute studies at 15 years of age with soloist and chamber musician, Susanella Noble. Lisamarie journeyed to the East Coast in 1985 to study flute with renowned principal flutist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Murray Panitz, and in 1989, she received her Bachelor of Music degree (cum laude) from Temple University. Other influential teachers include David Cramer, Associate Principal Flutist of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and Mark Sparks, Principal Flutist of the St. Louis Symphony.
In 2010, Lisamarie released Unimagined Bridges...Fountain of Consciousness, a CD featuring the commissioned composition Unimagined Bridges, by Andrea Clearfield, for silver flute and Native American flutes. The CD also includes pieces by James DeMars, Gary Schocker, Katherine Hoover, R. Carlos Nakai, and Earth Meditations by Lisamarie Coyote Windwalker.
In 2007, Lisamarie released The Colors Fall, a beautiful double-CD of 20th century classical flute music, featuring favored compositions by some of her most beloved composers; Copland, Bloch, Ibert, Hoover, Hindemith, DeMars, Saint-Saëns, Roussel, Ravel, and Debussy.

Lisamarie’s honors include being a winner of the National Flute Association’s Orchestral Audition Masterclass Competition, in 1991, with Leone Buyse. She and her colleague, Judy Dines, won the 1991 Pottstown Symphony Young Artists Concerto Competition, and they performed the Cimarosa Concerto in A Major for two Flutes with the Pottstown Symphony. Lisamarie also won the Fort Collins Young Artist Concerto Competition, Junior Division, in 1983.
Utilizing the healing powers of music has been an integral part of Lisamarie's life. She skillfully held a position as a music therapist for the Ken Crest Centers of Philadelphia for 4 years. Her interaction with special needs children there, and the miraculous healing and growth they displayed, through shared musical experiences, was deeply touching. In 2014 and 2017, while voyaging through South Africa, Lisamarie offered music and art therapies, empowerment meditations and Zen teachings to over 200 children living at the Botshabelo Orphanage, altering her life, as well as the lives of the beautiful Boshabelo children. Her captivating performances for Elders in nursing homes, private homes and in hospitals, as well as in sacred ceremonies, and Sound Journeys around the world, have been described as healing, soothing and transformative. For many years Lisamarie has offered calming Native American flute sounds to those in transition at Hospice.
In addition to her musical experience, Lisamarie has worked successfully for several years as a Medical Actor/Standardized Patient for Drexel University’s College of Nursing and Health Professions Simulation Center, and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. She has photographed professional musicians and authors for publication, and has photo-documented a journey known as The Sacred Drift, as well as producing the cover and booklet photographs for her CDs.
Currently residing with her Beloved Partner, “In the Heart of Being a.k.a. The Back of the Sleeping Dragon”, known to many as the Colorado Rocky Mountains, Lisamarie’s other interests and practices include, wandering in the Wilds, acting, photography, cooking, reading, walking, being environmentally active, mushroom cultivation, Zen practice, Earth-touching, dancing with Group Motion Zoom, engagement with the Animas Valley Institute, guiding sacred dances and ceremony, building and contributing to community.
